raining goo

Kai asked me for a yogurt and followed me to the kitchen today at about 5:30. She was standing there patiently watching me, while I was opening the yogurt and getting her a spoon. All of the sudden I her a loud pop/crack noise. I look at Kaiya because she's usually the source of loud noises in our house, but she was just as bewildered as I was. When she was covered with white spots of globby, spit up looking stuff from head to toe, I looked for a different source for this strange noise. I looked down at me and I too was covered with this mysterious substance, my walls, my counter and ceiling and pretty much everything in my kitchen, was covered with it.

I was baffled.
What was the source of this messiness allover my kitchen!?

I thought for a brief second that Chad had thrown up again and it got allover us (he's been sick all day). But then I quickly realized that he was in a completely different room. I guess I instantly reverted to worse case scenario. Mind you this thought process only took a few seconds, but I finally figured out what it was. A CAN. a can of evaporated milk that expired less than a month ago on july 17th. The goo smelled like mac and cheese, EXACTLY. It was so disgusting to me. We keep our cans above our cabinets so It sprayed down like a shower of rotten cheesy smelling, blobby, globby, milk, all over us.

What are the chances of a can exploding on you from above? Not high, I'm sure. The can split from the side too. I've never seen that happen before, and it did it all on it's own. How strange.

I didn't think to take pictures until I had already cleaned the child and myself off. But you would have been surprised by our ghastly appearance. we were quite white and spotted with goo.
